淡い透明な葉にメロンのような葉脈の入ったエキノドルス。
そのメロンのような姿から、メロンソード、またはメロンソード・プランツとも呼ばれる。

水中葉はライトグリーンで透明感があり、大型水槽に数株植えるとエキゾチックで独特の雰囲気になる。
エキノドルスマニアから古くから愛される種。

良い状態で維持するには高光量とCO2が欠かせないが、その条件さえクリアできれば、綺麗な葉を水槽一杯に広げてくれる。

決して容易な種ではないが、エキノドルスの魅力を知りたい方は、アマゾンソード・プラントと並んで、本種がお勧め。
